The Vanderpool - #1947

Our latest “Plan of the Month” is a modification of “The Vanderpool” plan featuring the very popular “dog-trot” concept which separates the main living quarters and living area from the guest rooms by way of a breezeway. Before the days of air conditioning this design was used by early settlers and pioneers to provide the most effective cross ventilation throughout the home while enduring the extreme Texas heat. While providing an escape from those hot summer days, this concept also provides a way to “open up” and enjoy those cool summer, fall and evening breezes that literally permeate every corner of this popular design. These days with separate utilities, the idea affords our “empty nesters” the opportunity to “zone” their living spaces while not in use and effectively isolate their main living areas from the guest rooms. It’s also a great way to isolate loud teenagers from the “grown-ups”.

Included in this client customized plan is a rear screened covered porch, attached carport/storage, standing seam metal roofing, hardwood floors and an efficient master bath featuring a separate tile shower and whirlpool bath. The custom granite counters in the open kitchen relate extremely well to the full masonry fireplace in the living area made from native Hill Country stone.
